A quote is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for one’s self — a laborious business.

“A writer is like a tuning fork: We respond when we’re struck by something. The thing is to pay attention, to be ready for radical empathy. If we empty ourselves of ourselves we’ll be able to vibrate in synchrony with something deep and powerful. If we’re lucky we’ll transmit a strong pure notes, one that isn’t ours, but which passes through us. If we’re lucky, it will be a note that reverberates and expands, one that other people will hear and understand.”
~ Roxana Robinson

I’ve only had one day in my Creative Writing class with Jen Ochstein (who also writes a blog which I follow) and I can tell by the quote on her syllabus that I like her. I supposed that I may be a little biased since I read her blog but there is something quite endearing and carefree — without being careless — about her personality.

I can’t wait to work with you, Jen šŸ™‚
